Born Alani Vazquez in Brooklyn New York, LaLa Anthony is the wife of New York Knicks basketball player Carmelo Anthony. She is also the star of her own reality series on VH1 LaLa’s Full Court Life. The star got her start working at a radio station in Atlanta Georgia. While in high school she developed a passion for music. She got her first job as an intern in Hip Hop station working alongside rapper Ludacris who was a radio DJ. The two formed a friendship and till this day call each other brother and sister.
LaLa graduated from college and moved to California to audition for a hosting spot on MTV’s Total Request Live. The video countdown series was on the air for 9 years. From 1999 till the final episode in 2009 the series was hosted by Carson Daily and as the show grew other co-host were hired. LaLa didn’t get the spot but MTV producers kept their eye out for her and offered her a job hosting a Hip Hop series in the evening. In 2007 she began hosting TRL full time.
Outside of hosting LaLa has been in several movies including Two Can Play That Game, Monster Island, You Got Served and the 2012 hit Think Like A Man alongside 106th and park host Terrence Howard. She met her husband Carmelo in 2004. That same year he proposed to her on Christmas Day in front of her family. The couple’s son Kiyan was born in 2007 and they wed in 2010. Ludacris, R&B singer Monica Arnold, Kim Kardashian, and Ciara attended the ceremony.
