2014 starts off with bad news for one of tv’s most loved and hated Brit, Piers Morgan. Morgan who took CNN’s prime time spot, which belonged to Larry King three years ago, is about to lose his job. Piers Morgan Live is set to be cancelled in March. CNN has suffered struggling ratings while networks FOX and MSNBC seem to be becoming more and more popular. Morgan had a variety of guest and covered a plethora of global issues. But it was his opinionated views and points that kept the show fresh and interesting as he disputed on air with guest. His salary with CNN was just over $400,000 plus raises and bonuses based on the show’s performance. With poor ratings one would say CNN wasted their money. Piers Morgan net worth is estimated at $10 million in 2014.
The 48 year old Piers openly discussed the show’s lackluster performance and partially takes the blame for it. Saying I’m British discussing American issues. Morgan’s career was built in the world of news but his own career made headlines. He was a tabloid newspaper editor with the Daily Mirror. Morgan lost his job after he published fake pictures of British troops airbrushing Iraqi Prisoners.
Morgan expanded his career with television being personally hired by Simon Cowell. He was a judge on Britain’s Got Talent and joined the cast of the American version during it’s premiere. His harsh opinions made him a fan favorite. Morgan was seen as a comparison to Simon Cowell.
Piers Morgan also did a season of Celebrity Apprentice.
Despite the job loss don’t think this will be the last we hear from Morgan. He’s got big plans and big pockets and hoping to create his own programming in the near future.
